Customized Desktop Tool Tips

You can customize the tool tip "bubble" which appears when you hover your mouse over your desktop’s icons.   For instance, when your mouse hovers over the "My Computer" icon - you’ll see "Displays the files and folders on your computer".

By default the Windows 2000 desktop icon tool tips is the location for the object.  For example: Microsoft Visual FoxPro tool tip is "Location: C:\VFP98".  To change it:

  1. Right click (alt + enter) on the icon and select properties
  2. Fill in the "Comments" field with the desired tip text
  3. Apply and the next time you hover over the icon - the customized tool tip displays
Note:  This does not apply to System icons - like "My Computer" and "Recycle Bin".
