Disable the LastKey Feature of REGEDIT

If you don't like the "memory" feature of Regedit, you can disable this feature using the following procedure:

  1. From REGEDT32 go to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit

  2. Double-click the LastKey item and set the value to an empty string.
  3. Click to select the Regedit key on the left side of the window.
  4. Go to the Security menu and click Permissions.
  5. Remove the Full Control permission from all users listed. Now RegEdit can't save the LastKey value!
