To disable the Welcome screen from popping up after a user logs in for the first time for Windows 2000 Professional, perform the following:

1. Edit the file HIVEDEF.INF in the i386 directory.
2. Find the line:

   HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\tips", "Show", 0x00010003,1

3. Change the last 1 to a 0 (zero)
