The My Pictures folder has more functionality than the Thumbnails view in Windows 2000 Professional.  It allows for zooming, panning and full screen viewing of images.

To create more picture-browsing folders, copy the existing picture folder, then empty it, and use it as a template (named something like Picture Folder Template).   When you need a new picture folder, copy the empty one to create a new one and rename it.

They also work as sub-directories under the My Pictures directory, so you can organize your images in a tree structure.  This is particularly good if you work on catalogs and other projects with a lot of images in them.

If creating a Pictures Template directory is not satisfactory try this:

1. Create a folder (in My Documents, or in My Pictures, on desktop, or anywhere else).
2. Open the folder.
3. Select View/Customize this folder.
4. Select Choose or edit HTML template for this folder.
5. Select Image Preview.
