Choose this machine type if your machine is a lathe with the spindle oriented horizontally and it has only a single turret.

Choose this machine type if your machine is a lathe or vertical boring mill with the spindle oriented vertically and it has only a single turret.

Example of a Single Turret Vertical Lathe.
Choose this machine type if your machine is a lathe with the spindle oriented horizontally, it has two turrets both of which are affixed to the same slide and the front turret is considered to be the primary turret. Both turrets are programmed using the XZ motion registers. The secondary turret is accommodated by entering the XZ offset distances between the turrets.

Example of a Dual Turret Horizontal Lathe, Turrets on Same Slide, Front is Primary.
Choose this machine type if your machine is a lathe with the spindle oriented horizontally, it has two turrets both of which are affixed to the same slide and the rear turret is considered to be the primary turret. Both turrets are programmed using the XZ motion registers. The secondary turret is accommodated by entering the XZ offset distances between the turrets.

This selection will indicate to the postprocessor which turret on your machine will be treated as the primary turret. On machine tools with position register preset functions, this option has less influence on the output produced. A more obvious circumstance would be a machine that operates in absolute mode only. In this case all dimension codes would be output relative to the primary turret and offset to the secondary turret.
