Curve Fitting

Enable curve fitting

The Curve fit process is to convert a set of input linear GOTO/cmds in the CLfile into arc/spline motion that fit the tolerance and other given options. This may reduce the MCD file size and/or generate a smoother machining operation.

Arc Fitting

Enable arc fitting

Initiates the 'arc fit' process of the CLfile - ON or OFF to enable or disable arcfit. The arcfit process is to convert a set of linear GOTO/cmds into circular motion that fit the tolerance and other options specified.

Allow helical motion during arc fitting

ON or OFF to allow helical motion with arcfit. The Gpost will generate ARCSLP/ON-OFF commands as needed to cut a spiral path, when the input points have a constant change along the tool axis to represent a helical move.

3D Arc Format

With Arcfit, GPost can output G02/G03 circular blocks in the orthogonal planes (G17,G18 and G19) as required by many machine tools. Some controllers support G02/G03 in any plane, such as Fanuc G3.4 or Siemens CIP formats. This is called "3D Arc" and you can select the desired format in this dialog.

Spline Fitting

Enable spline fitting

Initiates the 'spline/nurb fit' process of the CLfile - ON or OFF to enable or disable nurb fit. The nurb fit process is to convert a set of linear GOTO/cmds into nurb curve motion that fit the tolerance and other options specified.

Type

Specifies the type of spline fit required such as a Nurb or Cubic spline curve.

Output Machine Type

Designates the format of MCD file for Spline, such as G6.2 for Fanuc, BSPLINE Siemens etc.

Chordal Curve Fit Tolerance

The chordal tolerance is used to qualify adjacent points and to determine if they can be fit as an arc/spline. It is also used in all curve fitting functions.
