This setting will cause the same behavior as normal limit checking for any linear axis violations. When this setting is selected, rotary axis moves beyond the specified limits can have corrective action applied to the output position. THIS APPLIES TO ROTARY AXIS OVERTRAVEL CONDITIONS ONLY!
A Feedrate motion tab and a Rapid motion tab are displayed. On these tabs, you can specify the corrective action desired for the offending rotary axis for moves made at rapid or feedrate. Two settings for each condition (feedrate vs rapid) are provided:
Call _REPOS macro: This setting is useful for the user that is familiar with the Factory Interface Language (FIL), in that the analysis and corrective action to be taken can be user specified. A simple example macro is provided (_REPOS.FIL). When this setting is selected and a rotary axis moves beyond the specified limits the _REPOS macro is automatically called. This setting should be used only by those with the ability to take advantage of the advanced feature of the FIL language. Available for 4-axis, 5-axis, and live tooling mills.
Auto select opposite solution within limits (ONLY AVAILABLE FOR 5-AXIS & LIVE TOOLING MILLS): The post always computes both possible solutions in the MULTAX case .... the shortest path is always chosen as it would not always be appropriate to select the longer of the two solution sets, particulary during a cut. This setting indicates that, should the computed output point (based on shortest path criteria) be outside the limits for this rotary axis, the alternate solution (that is, the longer path) will automatically be attempted. If that output point is within the limits, it will be used as the output point. When this setting is selected, various options are available with regard to retracting from the part (along the tool axis), associated feedrate for the retracting (and re-approach) move, disposition of spindle and coolant codes, optional stop, etc. In addition, warning messages can be produced indicating that the alternate solution was chosen. These warnings can be output to the list file, the tape file, or both. With automatic reposition of the ABC axes, a secondary distance for approach can also be set. This will allow a RAPID move until this distance and tehn switch to the programmed feedrate. Default is zero for no secondary approach of set the desired incremental distance from the output of limit point along the current tool axis. In the Retract Motion section, a new check box allows for the select setting of the retract position with in the limit.
With _REPOS limit testing enabled, you can also specify the type of the Rotary axis limits. The default is the linear scale as given in the Axes panel. An alternate is in rotary scale format as needed for some cases. For example, if your A-axis can rotate in the range of 0 to 90 (Quad1) and 270 to 360 (Quad4), where 0 and 360 are the same postion, you can not use the linear range. Because Min=90 and Max=270 will make A=85 as out of limit.
By choosing the 360 Degree scale option, you can two sets of range values as (Min1=0,Max1=90) and (Min2=270,Max2=360). Now output angles (A90,A80...A0 and A270,280...A360) will be in limit and valid.
This sign option, allows you to further check only the positive angle for the 360 degree range test.
When you set the multiple range min-max values, we recommend you reset your linear min-max values for the selected rotary axis (ABC) in to a large value as (e.g., -999, +999) to avoid unncessary warnings.
On some machines, the rotary ABC axes can not travel into a zone. This zone is a pair of angular values to define a range in the 360 degree dial or scale. The GPost can check for this condition and move in the opposite direction to reach the final position. You can set this option and also fill in the absolute minimum and maximum angles of this zone.
Since the opposite direction move will be 180 or greater, you can further specify a mid-ABC angular position to be output. This may be needed if your machine always takes the shortest rotation which would violate the travel zone. You also have the option to output this for Rapid, Feed, or both motion blocks that cause a travel zone violation.
When auto REPOS option is set, only the rotary axes were checked for correction. This option allows you to check the XYZ axes limit also. When Intcom 4655=1, then if the rotary ABC is out of limit no further test will be done. If ABC axes pass the limit, then the GPost will check XYZ also. If XYZ is out of limit, it will select the opposite solution or call the REPOS macro.
In addition it will also set Intcom 4656 to a value (24,25 or 26) to indicate the out of limit XYZ axis to be used within the REPOS macro.
