Motion analysis is a function the postprocessor is capable of performing that is designed to be a safety feature. When motion analysis is activated, the postprocessor will analyze all moves it is instructed to make under rapid traverse mode to determine whether the spindle is advancing or retracting. When advancing the postprocessor will output the X and Y axis motion in a block by themselves prior to outputting a block containing the Z motion. If retracting the Z motion is output in a block prior to outputting the X and/or Y motion in a subsequent block. In this way the postprocessor attempts to ensure that maximum probability of fixture/clamp avoidance is accomplished.
