Preparations

The process of creating an option file requires a comprehensive understanding of the machine tool and its control requirements. You will need to describe the details of what the machine control requires in order to operate properly. Following is a list of documents that are usually required to complete your option file:

• Machine tool manual

• Axis travel limits and (optional) home positions.

• Axis feedrate limits

• Spindle limits/ranges, etc.

• Machine control and/or Programmer's manual

• Machine preparatory and auxiliary codes

• Address register formats/limits

• Circular motion requirements, etc.
